A Guide: How to do Expo Right

At World Travel Expo, there’s always so much to take in. Whether you’re a first-timer or you’ve been to one of our travel expos before, these tips will go a long way towards helping you get the most out of the day.

1.Get your FREE Ticket

Our number one tip? Get your free ticket before attending the expo. Why? So you can jump in the express lane to enter (because who likes waiting in line?), get a sneak peek at the exclusive deals before the day and to go into the draw to win the major prize.

Once you’ve received your ticket – you can easily show this on your phone screen on the day or else print it out. Use it to gain express entry and at the Scan and Win competition stands inside.

2. Start Researching Before You Arrive

Know what you want and arrive ready to find it. With all the exclusive deals only available on the day, having a clear goal in mind makes the whole day so much easier.

Also, it can be helpful to consider what your must-haves are and what holiday details you can be flexible with to help you get the lowest possible price. Unless, of course, you’re free as a bird and would rather be inspired by all the incredible places the deals can take you!

3. Get There Early

Arrive early to beat the crowds and give yourself all day to look, plan and really consider all of your holiday options. Need coffee? There’ll be a coffee cart at the door and inside to give you a morning jump-start.

4. Collect your Bag, Hot Deals Flyer and Map at the Door

You’ll be handed a tote bag at the door – the perfect place to keep all your new brochures, deals flyers and travel inspiration. Also don’t miss the expo maps at the door (handy to help find your way around) or the list of super hot expo deals!

5. Pick from the Presentation Schedule

There are free travel presentations running throughout the day. Check the presentation schedule for the line-up in your city and keep the times in mind as you plan your day.

Typically, the theatrettes is where you’ll find the suppliers and destination specialists, and the main stage is home to the more general travel talks like ‘how to secure a hot airfare’.

6. Wander and Browse

There are two ways to really tackle an expo. If you know exactly what you’re looking for, head directly to the relevant stands and be guided by your map. Otherwise, simply wander and browse as you go.

There’s always a consultant on hand willing to point you in the right direction and answer any questions along the way.

7. Consider All the Deals

There are deals literally everywhere. Get a printed list of super hot deals at the door, pick up deals flyers at each stand and be sure to check out the handwritten deals on the giant boards on the day.

8. Ponder and Plan Your Holiday Over Tea, Coffee or Lunch

Need a break? Or just some time to flick through brochures and contemplate all the dreamy possibilities? There’s food and drinks available in the hall so you can sit down, relax, take in all the information and chat through your options.

9. Speak to a Travel Expert

Ready to chat to a travel consultant? Look for the ‘Book Here’ signs to locate the sales area where an expert can help you nut out the finer details and talk through all of your options.

10. Lock in your Dream Holiday and Make a Deposit

When you’re ready to lock in your dream holiday, your consultant will help you find the payment area to put down a deposit to secure your dream holiday. All forms of payment are accepted.

PLUS – put down a deposit and go into the draw to win your holiday back!

11. Scan and Win for More Prizes

Refer to your map for a guide to all the ‘Scan and Win’ stands where you can scan your ticket to be entered into the draw to win $500 gift cards and other great prizes.

12. Have Fun!

Travelling is one of the best experiences in life and travel expo is just as fun!

Every expo is different, but at previous events we’ve had everything from photo booths, Harley displays and cash booths to roving entertainers, kids zones and real life Premium Economy seats to test out.
