On 25 September 2019, China Eastern Airlines operated the first flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The brand-new Beijing Daxing International Airport, located approximately 50km from Beijing city centre, is the largest integrated comprehensive transportation hub in the world and will become the secondary hub for China Eastern Airlines.
Currently, China Eastern has daily, nonstop service between Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/Auckland and Shanghai, three-times-weekly service between Sydney and Beijing via Nanjing/Hangzhou, Sydney to Xian via Wuhan and Sydney to Kunming. China Eastern operates all Oceania flights using a mix of aircraft, including the Airbus A350-900, Boeing 787-9, and Airbus A330-200. On 1Nov2015, China Eastern started a codeshare and joint venture partnership with Qantas Airways between Australia and China that delivers substantial benefits for customers, including an expanded network and reciprocal travel benefits for frequent flyers.
